‘Katha Parayumpol'- the movie that hogged the maximum headlines due to its multiple remakes, Mammootty's cameo and due to Sreenivasan poignant performances is once again in the limelight. This time, the movie is on news as it was selected for the state awards for the best among the popular films with artistic merit.

Produced as the debut venture of Lumiere films - a banner set up by artists Mukesh and Sreenivasan, the movie was directed by debutante M Mohanan.

“I am more than happy that the movie was selected as the best popular film. Not many directors’ had the luck to open in a movie that became such a big hit and claimed such awards.” said the exalted director.

Meanwhile, the final discussions and shoot for the remakes of the movie in Tamil and Hindi are on, while the original 'Katha Parayumpol’, is still running in few major centers even after completing 110 days.
